His music, particularly this album brought forth the whole Atmospheric black metal scene. No words need to be said.

‹‹ #9 ›› By kuau (Archived) on 16th Dec, 2014 @ 15:13 UTC -

One of my favorite albums so far, and im a punk rocker so yeah, this album is really awsome, especially because of the minimaslism of varg.

I love Burzum. Varg made some of the best BM songs ever (Black spell of destruction, Key to the gate, Ea, lord of depths...), but this is not his best album.

WIth this album a new branch of black metal raised up. Pure, primitive, unpolished.

LONG LIVE EURONYMOUS..................

The second half doesn't get enough credit, Rundtgåing Av Den Transcendentale Egenhetens Støtte might be one of the most hypnotic songs I've ever listened to. Then of course you've got dunkelheit which is one of the best BM songs ever. This is an outstanding album.

‹‹ #17 ›› By Requiem (Archived) on 9th Feb, 2019 @ 08:32 UTC -

One of the all time great black metal albums. Also, what an amazing cover with the use of the Theodor Kittelsen artwork. This is the last truly great Burzum album.

‹‹ #22 ›› By Necrolexicon (Archived) on 20th Jan, 2020 @ 09:48 UTC -

Overrated, over long, 'hypnotic' atmospheric black metal. Could never feel the magic others described, just bland.

‹‹ #23 ›› By DI IONNO (Archived) on 5th Oct, 2020 @ 08:45 UTC -

Filosofem is a perfect album, it doesn't even need any words as it is so perfect. You can't believe that a human being has been capable of carving that out of nothing, it's amazing!

‹‹ #24 ›› By Eliraq Azrael (Archived) on 4th Dec, 2020 @ 20:24 UTC -

Perfect album

‹‹ #25 ›› By Morteza (Archived) on 23rd Dec, 2020 @ 12:23 UTC -
