Returning to our "Kings of Black" series of articles, this week we check out Emperor, one of the Norwegian pioneers and the band that single-handedly created a whole sub-genre by themselves.
In our third installment of the Kings of Black series, we take a closer look at one of the pioneers of Norwegian Black Metal and the architects of Symphonic Black Metal, Emperor.
Since their creation in 1991 until their dissolution in 2001, Emperor have proven to be not only one of the key progenitors of the Second Wave of Black Metal that originated in Norway, but also one of the most inspirational, with their influence being found within the music of literally thousands of Symphonic Black Metal bands across the globe.
