Mother North, your fields are bleeding! Brilliant for that song alone I agree

Near perfect album. This one really marks the height of Norwegian black metal.

Well I've been going through this site all afternoon, and I'm glad I stumbled across it because it's not only brought me back some fond memories from the golden era of black metal such as Nemesis Divina (FUCKING AWESOME) but it's made me realize some of the modern black metal is also worth checking out and one shouldn't lose faith in the evolution of the genre (The Ruins Of Beverast being the perfect example). That's what makes black metal magic, old bands innovating black metal and new bands playing old school black metal, giving way to some fantastic albums every year. HAIL BM

Satyricon is better than Immortal and Bathory? Really?

An absolutely perfect album. Everything about it is memorable, it sounds great (I'm not a believer in the lo-fi aesthetic most BM albums have), musicianship is out of this world, and balances the symphonics and guitars masterfully. Nothing sounds out of place and bogged down. Satyr, Frost, and all the other session musicians are fucking relentless on this album and they never let up one bit. The Dawn of a New Age is a killer, but the title track is nothing short of a masterpiece.

I don't know what they see in this album. I find the decline of the band in this work. Their best albums are Dark medieval times and The shadowthrone. But, of course, this is a lot better than the following.

Fucking amazing but Now Diabolical, Dark Medieval Times, The Age of Nero deserves top 100 too.

A serene, vicious, assault with memorable songs and tons of serpentine melodies.
